This week (11/ 11-11/15) you will be finding a current event, summarizing it, and sharing your thoughts on the topic. Due Friday, November 15th at Midnight.
As before:
Your source must be from a reputable news source. Look through online and print articles from newspapers, radio broadcasts, government websites, organization websites or news programs.
For full points your blog must include:
-Nature of the issue-what is the issue?
-A full citation using MLA format is required for full points.
-Summarize the issue-Explain what the issue is, who it involves, who maybe for or against it. Be sure not to plagiarize
-Your opinion of the issue-explain what you think, and why you think that
-What are the potential outcomes or consequences.
Remember, these posts are available for anyone in the world to read. So write something of a quality you’re proud of!

Read the following true story of a girl who took action as a leader, respond to the bulleted questions, and describe a time when you identified a problem and took action to solve it.

Kristen has always enjoyed raising vegetables in her family’s garden. When she was 10 years old, she knew she had produced more than her family needed, and gave the excess to a local food pantry. She did this in spite of the cruel teasing from her older brother, who had been in and out of prison. He did not understand why she would do this for others.Kristen’s experience with her brother inspired her to take action. She wondered how she might help others understand the importance of giving. Thus, Kristen was inspired to begin a program in the youth detention facilities.She taught juvenile inmates gardening and life skills. The inmates developed pride in their work, and a new attitude with the knowledge that they were capable of producing food for the hungry. Her program has spread throughout the country. Today, this program continues to grow, and the gardens have produces thousands of pounds of produce for those who need it most.
